“I wrote the books I should have liked to read. That's always been my reason for writing." - C.S. Lewis
My name is Sean “Mac” McClellan and I like to write games and stories. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, where there are hardly any mutants or goblins, which I find very disappointing. I attended Shippensburg University where I acquired a degree I do not use, to the surprise of literally no one, least of all myself. Fortunately my time in college did serve to sharpen my writing skills and cement my passion for creative projects (and I met a lot of really cool people), so it wasn’t a total loss.
I got into writing at 10 years of age when I read that C.S. Lewis quote on a poster in my 5th-grade classroom. I wrote short stories and ill-fated attempts at novels throughout grade school and college until finally I was satisfied with The Long Road and published it. Its sequel, The Minutemen was already halfway done when TLR came out, allowing me to get it published only a little more than a year after my debut novel.
My first foray into game design was an attempt to get around the Pokémon card ban of 2001, but I didn’t get serious until well after college when I started working on a post-apocalyptic d100 system (noticing a theme?). Several years and dozens of failed projects later, I co-published NUKED! on DriveThruRPG with NondairyGiant before creating and successfully Kickstarting Rangers of the Midden Vale. A year later Giant and I crowdfunded a revamped version of NUKED! and secured funding for a physical print run. Then in 2023 I started crowdfunding for Bullets & Bourbon: Reloaded, a card-based Western TTRPG I had been working on for the better part of five years.
When I’m not busy writing things down to make the demons shut up for five seconds, I like to visit craft breweries, listen to music (mostly yacht rock and outlaw country like some kind of dad), read all manner of books, and play games (video and traditional) with friends and family. I’ve also been known to go on hikes and bike rides, but only when the weather is nice. Sometimes I post on social media, but I’m not very good at it.
