Fully Funded! New Stretch Goal! Retailer Tier! Loud Noises!

Art by HodagRPG

Good news, everyone, as of about thirty minutes Totally Radical Tales became fully funded! Thank you all again for your amazing support! After speaking with our good friend JoeshP we're going to be adding his NUKED! adventure A Rose in the Dunes as a $1500 Stretch Goal! If we reach our goal, PDFs and tri-fold pamphlets will be added to everyone's pledges.

We also added a Retailer tier to our Campaign after talking to some folks, which comes with five copies of each of the zines. If you're a Friendly Local Game Store (or know one that'd be interested in selling NUKED!) check it out!

We're also finalizing some talks with a friend/game designer/online store online in Canada so we can include Canadian shipping at a not ridiculous price, so if you're hoping to get a physical copy and you live in Canada keep an eye out for another update soon!

The Boomtown Gazette, Vol. 2

As with last week I wanted to take a moment to shout out a few more projects that caught my eye this Zine Month!

(Games are listed in no particular order and their titles double as links to their respective crowdfunding pages).

1- 8-BIT THEATER THE ROLEPLAYING GAME by Brian

Subtitled: “Where You're the Light Warriors Getting Isekai'd to Save a Bunch of Worlds But It Always Goes Wrong Because They Are Real Bad at This.” I loved the 8-Bit Theater comic back in... shudders... high school and for better or worse it helped shape my comedic sensibilities. When I saw there was going to be a role-playing game I jumped on the chance to back it. I know my Sunday group will have a blast being the terrible Warriors of Light! Now if you don't mind, I've got a decades old sprite comic to reread.

2- Fealty by Michael Elliot

As I mentioned in my previous update, I'm a big fan of role-playing games that don't utilize dice as their primary resolution mechanic. I had to buy about a half-dozen decks of playing cards while writing and testing Bullets & Bourbon: Reloaded so I jump at the opportunity to play games that also care about poker decks! Beyond that, I'm also always looking for "minigames" that I can slot into other games and the idea of pausing a frontier hexcrawl so the players that get involved in some courtly intrigue is too good to pass up! And finally, the art in this project looks positively amazing!

3- The Abbot Trilogy by Stuart Watkinson

I'm always on the prowl for new adventures to add to my RPG shelf (or more accurately, my Forever GM's RPG shelf) and so when I saw The Abbot Trilogy had not one, not two, but three adventures in it I was sold! Each of the adventures is system agnostic, allowing them to be easily inserted into a campaign of your choice and at least one of them seems to have been inspired in part by Expedition to the Barrier Peaks.  The art looks great and the stretch goals are also pretty dang cool - I really hope the map gets unlocked!

4- Tiny Fables by Josiah

Growing up I loved the Redwall books, which were arguably my first foray into the fantasy genre. As a nostalgic adult I reread many of the books and realized I wanted to run or play a Redwall-style game. As fate would have it, the Mausritter boxed set became available shortly after reading Lord Brocktree (the best one and I'll hear no arguments!) and I snatched it up. Now I'm on the prowl for as many Mausritter adventures as I can find and Tiny Fables will look nice sitting next to Tomb of a Thousand Doors. The art looks great and the stretch goals have already been unlocked, so now's a good time to jump in!

5- I Got A Knife by Melanie Green

We're stepping outside of Kickstarter for our last shout-out, which belongs to I Got a Knife! Players take on the roles of Noir staples such as "grizzled private eye," "grieving citizens" and while it's not explicitly mentioned on the campaign, I'm willing to bet "cop one day from retirement" is probably an option. The zine also brings its own setting in the form of the city of Cutteron and utilizes a version of the DIE versus DIE system as its resolution mechanic.  If you're into games as artifacts, the special edition tier uses actual X-Ray film and looks badass! Definitely something to look into if you're a fan of the genre!

Alright, that’s a wrap for this week. I’ll be back with an update and a few more spotlighted projects next week! If you’re interested in what’s going on for Zine Month 2024, check out the Unofficial list of ZiMo projects!
